About Katrina Proctor

Every teacher’s journey is different. Here’s how my experience in the classroom shaped the way I support music educators today. 

Building a Foundation in Music Education

My journey in music education began at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I earned a Bachelor of Music Education followed by a Master of Music Education in Choral Conducting. Those studies provided a strong foundation in music education and prepared me for a career teaching students through meaningful musical experiences.

From there, I began my career as a public school music teacher, where the classroom became the place that shaped my approach to teaching, learning, and music education. 

Growing Through 10 Years in the Classroom 

For 10 years, I taught music in public schools, teaching choir, band, orchestra, piano class, general music, and music technology.

Along the way, I had the opportunity to build two music programs from the ground up, an experience that strengthened my skills as an educator and curriculum developer. 

Those years taught me that every classroom is different, and the best teaching strategies are the ones that are practical, flexible, and easy to implement. Whether introducing new technology or planning a rehearsal, I learned that giving teachers the right tools and confidence can make all the difference for both educators and their students.

Supporting Music Teachers Beyond the Classroom 

The classroom continues to shape everything I create today. As Content Manager at Midnight Music, I love creating articles, lesson ideas, and professional development resources that help music teachers feel more confident using technology in their classrooms.

I know how busy music teachers are because I’ve been there too. That’s why I focus on sharing practical, classroom-tested ideas that are easy to implement and make a real difference. My goal is to help you save time, teach with confidence, and spend more time making music with your students.
